NiCad cells are designed for harsh environments, extremes in temperature & offer broad performance in any application. They are well suited for Utility & telecommunications applications where temperature, cyclic rate or depth of discharge are eexcessive. SBS NiCad flooded batteries are manufactured in high, medium & low rate capacities & therefore can be selected for any discharge profile. The VRLA battery is by far the most popular reserve power design because the electrolyte is captive preventing it from spilling even when the case is punctured. Styles of sealed VRLA batteries include front-access telecom cells as well as high-rate UPS replacement batteries for Liebert, MGE & Powerware among others. General purpose SLAs are also produced for emergency lighting & other applications. VRLA batteries are considered "maintenance free" & require no addition of electrolyte or water. Our UPS High Rate Series are warranted for 10 years 3 of which are at 100% replacement value. SBS produces a number of main battery disconnect switches ranging in capacity from 100 to 4000 dc Amps and bus voltages from 24 to 600vdc. The MBD is commonly used to isolate a large battery plant from the discharge/recharge bus in order to provide a means of protection for safety and a means of isolation for maintenance.
